Avivit Pro-Gut
Price range: £25.89 through £56.89
Avivit Pro-Gut is a natural solution composed of cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) improving intestinal integrity in poultry and ducks of all ages
THE BALANCE Helps with digestive balance to optimize nutriment’s absorption and digestion capabilities, allowing the bird to tap it’s maximal growth capacity.
Controls Coccidian Protozoa and Clostridium Perfrigens bacteria.
Description
Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) has several practical, research‑supported uses in poultry production, mainly as a natural feed additive with antimicrobial, anticoccidial, antioxidant, and gut‑health–modulating properties.
BENEFITS
Natural solution
Ease of use – add to drinking water
No residues in meat or eggs
No side effects
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
- SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE – STORE IN A COOL, DRY, DARK PLACE (5°-20°C) – DO NOT FREEZE
- Dilute in drinking water at a rate of 5ml product per litre for 10-15 days, depending on symptoms. Decrease the dosage slowly before stopping. Can be used for longer periodsduring rearing or as required.
Trials
A good and balanced digestive stability and health will help to enhance the Average Daily Gain (weight) (ADG) and the feed conversion Ratio (FCR) of the flock, and will also help to improve the homogeneity within the flock.
Avivit Pro-Gut supports the birds during the critical phases of the rearing period, especially during dietrary transition periods. The product is a major asset for the health management of the birds.
During a trial conducted on turkeys, Pro-Gut increased the size and surface area of the intestinal villi, thus increasing the surface area for nutrient absorption and improving feed utilization.
In terms of growth performances, turkeys fed with Avivit Pro-Gut weighed 870g more and had a lower consumption index of 0.137 compared to the control flock.
Broilers
In the broiler sector, a trial was conducted in 117 farms on more than 2 million chickens to measure the growth performance gains enabled by Avivit Pro-Gut.
Pro-Gut resulteed in a 1.9g/d increasein Average Daily Gain and a 0.054 decrease in the Feed Conversion ratio. Mortality was also reduced by 1%, equivalent to 10,000 chickens.
| No. of birds | Body wght (kg) | ADG(g/d) | FRC | Mortality (%) | |
| Control | 1116 800 | 2.86 | 57,80 | 1,742 | 6.20 |
| Avivit Pro-Gut | 1256 800 | 2.95 | 59,70 | 1,688 | 5.70 |
Further information
Anticoccidial Effects
Key takeaway: CNSL-based supplements can improve broiler performance during Eimeria infections and support coccidiosis control strategies.
- A CNSL formulation (Calica+) improved average daily gain by 7.4% and showed a trend toward better feed conversion in vaccinated broilers challenged with Eimeria.
- It also reduced intestinal lesion scores associated with Eimeria tenella.
Antimicrobial Activity (Especially Against Clostridium perfringens)
Key takeaway: CNSL suppresses harmful gut bacteria and improves hindgut health.
- CNSL feeding increased beneficial short‑chain fatty acids and eliminated detectable Clostridium perfringens in broilers.
- Pure culture studies showed CNSL at ≥6.25 μg/mL inhibited C. perfringens growth and damaged bacterial cell surfaces.
- It also reduced ammonia and indole levels, improving gut environment.
Improved Broiler Performance and Carcass Yield
Key takeaway: CNSL can act as a natural alternative to antibiotic growth promoters.
- Increasing CNSL levels in feed produced a linear increase in carcass yield.
- CNSL reduced Escherichia coli concentrations in the intestinal contents.
- Performance was comparable to birds fed virginiamycin (a commercial AGP).
Effects in Laying Hens
Key takeaway: CNSL does not harm performance and can improve egg quality.
- Up to 10 g/kg CNSL did not affect laying performance or external egg quality.
- CNSL reduced lipid oxidation in egg yolk, with optimal effect at ~5.8 g/kg.
- Higher inclusion levels improved yolk color.
Natural Antioxidant and Organic Acid Source
Key takeaway: CNSL contains anacardic acid, a plant‑derived organic acid with antioxidant properties.
- Helps reduce oxidative stress in poultry diets.
- Supports gut health without relying on synthetic antibiotics.
Role in Gut Microbiome Modulation
Key takeaway: CNSL shifts gut microbiota toward beneficial populations.
- Increases Lactobacillus and reduces harmful clostridial groups.
- Lowers ammonia production, improving gut integrity and reducing toxicity.
Sustainability and Feed Resource Utilization
Key takeaway: CNSL is part of a broader push to use cashew by‑products in animal feed.
- Processing reduces CNSL toxicity and improves safety.
- Feeding trials across species show improved performance and gut health.
- Helps reduce feed costs and environmental waste in cashew‑producing regions.
